  • Cooking spray
  • 3 cups diced Granny Smith apple (about 3/4 pound)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans, toasted
