Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cake

Ingredients

• 1 ¾ cups boiling water
• 1 cup uncooked oatmeal
• 1 cup packed brown sugar
• 1 cup sugar
• ½ cup butter or margarine, softened
• 3 eggs
• 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
• + 5 more ingredients
• • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking cocoa
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 (12 ounce) package chocolate chips, divided
  • ¾ cup chopped walnuts

1. In a mixing bowl, pour water over oatmeal. Allow to stand 10 minutes. Add sugars and butter, stirring until the butter melts. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
