  • 5-¾ oz. (1-¼ cups) unbleached all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp. finely grated orange zest
  • 6 oz. (¾ cup) unsalted butter, slightly firm
  • 1-½ tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup very firmly packed, very fresh dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • + 6 more ingredients
    • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    • ½ cup dried cranberries
    • ½ tsp. baking soda
    • 1/3 cup orange juice
    • 1-¾ cups old-fashioned oatmeal
    • ½ tsp. table salt

In a small saucepan, heat the orange juice until very hot. Add the cran-berries; let steep off the heat until softened, about 15 min.
