Old-Fashioned Cream Scones

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into bits
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • ¼ cup sugar, plus 1 Tbsp. for sprinkling
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup dried currants
  • 2/3 cup heavy cream, plus
  • + 2 more ingredients
    • 2 egg yolks
    • 1 tablespoon for brushing
