  • 16 medium basil leaves
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 8 slices (about 1/2 in. thick) crusty Italian bread
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 pound fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced thinly
  • 3 medium ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • + 2 more ingredients
    • Sea salt
    • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
