Orangey honey buns

  • ½ tsp orange-flower water (optional)
  • 4 tbsp orange liqueur
  • 100g/3½oz clear honey
  • 500ml/17fl oz cold water
  • 1 orange, rind only, rind cut into 4 long strips
  • 500g/1lb 2oz caster sugar

    • 75g/2¾oz butter, slightly softened, cut into cubes, plus extra for greasing
    • 3 large free-range eggs, lightly beaten
    • 1 x 7g/¼oz sachet easy-blend dried yeast
    • ½ tsp sea salt flakes
    • 150g/5½oz plain flour
    • 4 tsp caster sugar
