Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar, divided
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, plus more for pan
  • 2 Bosc pears, cored, peeled, and cut into 1/4-in.-thick slices
  • ¾ cup plain whole or low-fat yogurt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, divided
  • 1/3 cup bourbon
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • + 6 more ingredients
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla
    • 2 cups flour
    • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
    • ½ cup firmly packed light brown sugar
    • 3 eggs
    • 1 teaspoon salt, divided

1. Preheat oven to 350°. Generously butter a 9-in. cake pan and arrange pear slices in a pattern on the bottom of pan. Set aside.
