Ingredients

  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 4 large Comice pears (about 3 pounds), peeled, cored, and cut lengthwise into 1/2-inch-thick slices
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

    • 3 tablespoons chilled stick margarine or butter
    • ¼ cup maple syrup
