Pecan Brittle


  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • ¼ cup hot water
  • ½ cup light corn syrup

Combine sugar, syrup, and water in a 2-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves. Cover and cook 2 to 3 minutes to wash down sugar crystals from sides of pan.
