Ingredients

  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 1-pound box powdered sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • Candied orange peel*
  • 2 teaspoons orange peel
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • + 14 more ingredients
    • 1 ½ cups sugar
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 2 teaspoons baking soda
    • 1 15-ounce can pure pumpkin
    • 4 large eggs
    • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
    • 1 ¼ cups vegetable oil
    • ¼ teaspoon salt
    • ¼ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
    • 1 8-ounce package cream cheese
    • 3 cups all-purpose flour
    • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
    • ¼ cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, room
    • 9 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter and flour two 9-inch cake pans with 1 1/2-inch-high sides, tapping out any excess flour. Whisk first 9 ingredients in large bowl.
