Recipe: Key Lime Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • ¼ cup sugar PLUS 1 cup sugar for the egg whites
  • ¼ cup finely chopped almonds
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 6 large egg yolks
  • One 14-ounce can (about 1 ¼ cups) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 teaspoons grated lime zest
  • + 13 more ingredients
    • ¾ cup fresh lime juice (from about 6 limes)

1. To make the crust, heat the oven to 375 degrees. Combine the crumbs, 1/4 cup sugar, almonds, and butter in a bowl. Blend well. Use the mixture to line the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie plate.
