Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon mild honey or sugar
  • plus more for kneading and dusting
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • 5 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup nigella or poppy seeds
  • + 7 more ingredients
    • 2 cups whole milk
    • 1 tablespoon salt
    • ¼ cup water
    • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast (from a 1/4-oz package)
    • 1 cup rye flour
    • ½ teaspoon black pepper
    • ¾ cup walnuts
