  • ¼ cup plus 2 Tbs. granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup fresh orange juice
  • ¾ cup full-bodied red wine, such as Merlot or Cabernet
  • 2 Tbs. fresh lemon juice

Combine the red wine, 1/2 cup water, and sugar in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Boil for 1 minute. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the orange and lemon juice.
