Ingredients

  • 1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 pound dried navy beans
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • + 8 more ingredients
    • 6 garlic cloves, minced
    • 1/3 cup grated fresh Romano cheese
    • 2 teaspoons dried basil
    • ½ cup dry red wine
    • 2 cups chopped onion
    • 8 cups water
    • 2 cups sliced zucchini
    • 1 cup sliced carrot

Sort and wash beans; place in a large Dutch oven. Cover with water to 2 inches above beans; bring to a boil. Cook 2 minutes. Remove from heat; cover and let stand 1 hour.Drain beans; return to pan.
