Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg plus 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • + 3 more ingredients
    • 3 cups confectioners' sugar
    • 2 tablespoons powdered egg whites (see Note)
    • Sparkling sugar

1. Whisk flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl. Beat butter, sugar, egg, egg yolk and vanilla in a large bowl until blended. Stir in flour mixture. Gather into a ball; wrap in plastic.
