Spiced Applesauce

Ingredients

  • 10 medium Granny Smith apples (about 5 ½ pounds), peeled, cored, each cut into 8 wedges
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ¾ cup fresh lemon juice
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 2-inch piece peeled fresh ginger, quartered lengthwise

1. Place all ingredients in large pot. 2. Bring to boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium, cover, and simmer until apples are soft, stirring occasionally, about 20 minutes.
