Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups sugar
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3 cups dry red wine
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

    • 1 tablespoon chopped unsalted natural pistachios
    • 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon peel
    • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
    • 6 whole cloves
    • 1 cinnamon stick
    • ½ cup unsalted natural pistachios
    • 4 large slightly underripe Bosc pears
    • 1 ½ cups all purpose flour
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • Vanilla ice cream

Combine 1/2 cup pistachios and 1/3 cup sugar in processor and blend until pistachios are chopped. DO AHEAD Can be made 3 days ahead. Store airtight at room temperature.
