Swedish Oatmeal Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 c old-fashioned oats
  • Boiling water to cover the oats
  • ¾ c molasses
  • 3 T sugar, divided
  • 2 t salt
  • 1 T shortening
  • 2 t anise seed
  • + 3 more ingredients
    • 1 egg beaten
    • 6 to 6 ½ c all-purpose flour, divided
    • 1 (.25-ounce) package yeast
