Ingredients

  • Cake:
  • 2 c plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 T baking powder
  • ½ t salt
  • 2 c sugar
  • 1 c (2 sticks) butter
  • 1 c whole milk
  • + 18 more ingredients
    • 4 eggs
    • 1 c finely grated semisweet chocolate
    • 1 ½ c grated coconut
    • Custard Filling:
    • ½ c sugar
    • 2 T all-purpose flour
    • 1 ½ c whole milk
    • 2 egg yolks, beaten
    • 2 t vanilla extract
    • 7 -Minute Frosting:
    • 2 egg whites, unbeaten
    • 1 ½ c sugar
    • 1 ½ t corn syrup
    • 1/3 c cold water
    • 1/8 t salt
    • 1 t vanilla extract
    • Optional Garnish:
    • ½ c grated semisweet chocolate
