Tomatoes Brown


  • 6 large tomatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • ¾ cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup soft breadcrumbs
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 small onion, chopped

Place all ingredients in a small Dutch oven; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
