Ingredients

• Unsweetened shredded coconut is sold at natural foods stores. Rose extract is available at surlatable.com. Look for sanding sugar at specialty foods stores.
• White sanding sugar
• Red liquid food coloring
• 1 teaspoon food-grade pure rose extract (not rose water); optional
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• ²/₃ cup sugar
• 4 large egg whites
• + 1 more ingredients
• • 2 ½ cups unsweetened shredded coconut

Cook first 3 ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until mixture is hot, dry to the touch, and starts pulling away from sides of pan, about 10 minutes.
