Vanilla Cream or Coconut Cream Pie

Ingredients

  • - 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 teaspoon(s) coconut flavoring
  • For coconut cream
  • 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
  • 2 tablespoon(s) butter or margarine
  • 3 cup(s) milk
  • 3 slightly beaten egg yolks
  • + 3 more ingredients
    • ¼ teaspoon(s) salt
    • ¾ cup(s) sugar
    • 1/3 cup(s) all-purpose flour, or 3 tablespoon cornstarch

Mix all dry ingredients. Add egg yolks and 1 cup milk. Stir until smooth. Add remaining milk and bring to boil, stirring constantly. Cook 2 minutes and remove from heat. Add butter, flavorings and coconut (if desired.) Cool to room temperature. Pour into baked pastry shell.
