Ingredients

  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 ½ cups unsalted butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ½ cup dried apple rings
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 3 cups walnuts
  • 20 17 x 12-inch sheets fresh phyllo pastry or frozen
  • + 5 more ingredients
    • 2/3 cup honey (preferably Greek)
    • 2 teaspoons finely grated lemon peel
    • 2 cinnamon sticks
    • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
    • 3 cups natural raw unsalted pistachios

Combine all ingredients and 1 cup water in heavy medium saucepan. Bring to boil over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
