  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 8 oz. bittersweet chocolate, roughly chopped into ¼- and ½-inch pieces
  • 8 oz. (2 sticks) cold unsalted butter, cut into ½-inch pieces
  • 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1-½ tsp. baking powder
  • + 3 more ingredients
    • 2 eggs
    • 1-½ tsp. kosher salt
    • 3 cups whole-wheat flour
