Wild Rice with French Green Lentils

Ingredients

  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 tablespoons fresh Italian parsley
  • ½ cup dried French green lentils
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 cup wild rice
  • 4 ¼ cups water
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt

    • ½ onion
    • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
    • 1 medium carrot
    • 1 celery stalk
    • 2 garlic cloves
    • 4 ounces 1/4-inch-thick pancetta (Italian bacon)
