  • 2 medium carrots, trimmed and cut into 2-inch lengths
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1 can (32 oz.) vegetable stock

    • 2 bay leaves
    • ¼ to ½ teaspoon prepared horseradish
    • ½ teaspoon celery salt
    • 2 stalks celery, trimmed and cut into 2-inch lengths
    • 1 medium onion, peeled and cut in half
