Roasted Turkey Recipes
Roasted turkey is so easy to pair with wine, you can pretty much close your eyes, choose a white wine and know that it will work well. Low in fat and mild in flavor, turkey does not pose many issues, so think about any flavorings you might be using during the cooking process. If you’re adding lemon or citrus to the bird, stick with a wine that can handle the juice. A dry or off-dry Riesling or zesty Sauvignon Blanc would work well and would also pair with an herb-scented dish.
If you’re not sure, a nice Chardonnay will always pair well with turkey, as will a lighter red like Beaujolais or simple, fruity Pinot Noir. These are generalizations that will pair with the broadest range of recipes, but we will get more specific with the recommendations as we discuss more specific recipes. Typically, roasted turkey is served with stuffing, where you’ll find the more assertive flavors. These will help to further define successful wine pairings.
