Ingredients

  • 8 (4-ounce) whole dressed aji or fresh sardines
  • 5 large garlic cloves, peeled
  • Fish:
  • ¼ cup chopped red bell pepper
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
  • 5 fresh Thai chiles, stemmed
  • 1 small shallot, peeled
  • + 10 more ingredients
    • 1 finger hot chile pepper, thinly sliced
    • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
    • 1 tablespoon less-sodium soy sauce
    • Sauce:
    • Cooking spray
    • ¾ teaspoon salt, divided
    • 1 tablespoon finely chopped red bell pepper
    • 1 tablespoon canola oil
    • 1/3 cup thinly sliced shallots (about 1 small)
    • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric
