Midwestern Whole Wheat Dried Fruit Stuffing


  • 2 ¾ cups (about) canned low-salt chicken broth
  • 1 24-ounce loaf day-old sliced whole wheat bread, ends discarded
  • 1 cup dried tart cherries
  • 1 cup golden raisins
  • ½ cup dried currants
  • ½ cup coarsely chopped pitted prunes
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • + 3 more ingredients
    • 2 medium onions, chopped
    • 1 ½ tablespoons chopped fresh thyme or 1/½ teaspoons dried
    • 2 eggs, beaten to blend
